Magali and Thibaut Decoster, proud parents of Arthur and Louis, and lovers of vines and wine, have their home in Saint-Emilion, where for the last 15 years, they have taken on exciting challenges in the heart of the wine appellation.
HISTORY

The story began in 2004 when Thibaut and Magali became wine-growers at Clos des Jacobins, though virtually nothing had predestined them for a life in the world of wine-growing.
Both of them come from Limoges, and they studied business and marketing in France and England. Back then, the chance to work as wine-growers in Saint-Emilion seemed nothing more than a dream. But then Thibaut moved to the Bordeaux area and was taken on as a vineyard worker at a wine estate in Léognan. There, for a period of 3 years in the field, he practised all the vine-growing tasks required to produce high-end reds and whites.
What started off as an idea then became reality when in 2003 an opportunity came along for them to set up in Saint-Emilion. Clos des Jacobins and Château La Commanderie were up for sale, and one year later Thibaut and Magali were the new owners of the estates. Soil and plot studies in the vineyards were quickly undertaken, substantial investment in equipment was made, a programme of pulling up vines and replanting was phased in, and renovation and improvement works were implemented, which very quickly confirmed the outstanding quality of both of these growths. By 2012, Château La Commanderie had been promoted to the prestigious ranks of Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé, to which Clos des Jacobins had already belonged since the beginning of the official classification in 1954. At the beginning of 2017, Thibaut and Magali took over Château de Candale and Château Roc de Candale, two Saint-Emilion wine estates with a combined surface area of 13 hectares (32 acres).

The diversity of its vineyards, bathed in the warm Aquitaine sunshine and overlooking the
Dordogne valley, is unique. The medieval village, with its sometimes mysterious
architecture, has kept the warm, subtle colours of the limestone rock on which it was built.
Saint-Emilion embodies the passion of its inhabitants, and its millions of visitors, for
different terroirs, complex wines, gastronomy, meeting new people and making friends.
The quality of the wines and terroirs of Château
de Candale and Château Roc de Candale allows these estates to take their place alongside
Clos des Jacobins and Château La Commanderie.
Situated on the limestone plateau and on Saint-Emilion’s famous south-facing slope, they
are both in the very heart of the most remarkable classified terroirs of the appellation.
These outstanding sites and the restaurant will enable us to entertain visitors at all four
wine estates and feature wine trails that offer diversity of terroir, typicity of wines, fine
food and wine pairings, and a true art de vivre.”
